Fewer Young Dentists Are Choosing to Own Practices

Survey data analyzed by the ADA Health Policy Institute showed the number of dentists younger than age 35 who were practice owners decreased from 49% in 2005 to 40.4% in 2013, and then to 30.7% in 2019. The survey found that overall, 76.1% of dentists owned their practice in 2019, compared with 84.7% in 2005, Becker’s Dental + DSO Review reports.
