The rapid spread of new Delta variant of COVID-19 in the U.S. is already sparking discussions on whether or not mask mandates should be reinstated for areas experiencing a surge in cases. Weeks ago, in a surprise announcement, the CDC relaxed mask recommendations for vaccinated individuals which led to many states rescinding mask mandates. The issue now is that it is hard to enforce mask mandates on unvaccinated individuals which are the population almost exclusively being affected by the Delta variant.
